Originally paper cranes were made as a wedding gift to the bride and groom. 1,000 paper cranes for 1,000 years of happiness. However, today it is mainly to commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima and to show love and peace on behalf of Sadako Sasaki who died from Leukemia from the bomb that was dropped. It is also said that if you fold 1,000 paper cranes a wish of yours will be granted :)
One of my posts in January gives a more detailed explanation :)
Pick and carry crane Wow, cool post. I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real hard work to make a great article... but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though.
Wow! That is impressive and looks great. Good luck on the next 500 :)

Hello! Wonderful. Is there a particular reason for making 1.000 cranes? Is it a tradition? Best wishes from Paris
