Photo of the Day - Hida no Sato, Takayama

This is a photo from Hida no Sato in Takayama. This area is an open air museum with old farm houses that have been transported from the surrounding area to preserve them and display them for the public. (More about Hida no Sato in a future post). When covered in snow, I think Hida no Sato looks like something out of a fairy tale.

Have you visited Hida no Sato in Takayama?

  1. Hello Georgia! Congratulations for this blog that I really like since I share your passion for Japan. When I went to Takayama it was autumn, the trees had red and gold leaves, it was very beautiful. But your photos in winter inspire me a lot for another visit some day! Needless to say, but simply because of the historic value of the houses presented there, Hida no Sato is worth the visit. Best regards from Paris!

  2. Hi Rafael,
I was in Takayama in Mid December on our first trip and while it was pretty with the Autumn colors, I think winter is lots of fun! Being from Australia, I never see snow so I love it even more! It's also better in January as the Sake breweries are open.
Another great place to visit in winter in Kanazawa. I will write a blog about it soon.

    Thanks for reading!
